Ever built the life you thought you wanted — the title, the home, the job — only to realize something still doesn’t feel right?
That’s the crossroads I know many of us quietly arrive at, especially as parent-preneurs and high-achievers. We hit our goals, check the boxes, and yet… there’s this low hum of restlessness underneath it all.
This week, I’m honored to bring you a guest piece from Dr. Eboni Truss — a powerhouse who speaks directly to that quiet ache. Her 3-step guide isn’t another productivity hack. It’s a permission slip. A gentle, courageous invitation to step out of the performance trap and into alignment with who we actually are.
If you’ve been feeling the tug to re-evaluate, realign, or reclaim something deeper — this one’s for you.
Over to Dr. Truss…
Why This Guide Exists…
Hey sis, I see you…
The title, the house, the career, the accolades… all of it should feel like enough, but still – as my grandmother used to say – “something just ain’t right.”
Maybe you’ve called it burnout. Maybe you’ve chalked it up to stress.
But if you’re honest, it’s something deeper: a quiet, persistent ache for answers. One that can’t be solved by a promotion, a sabbatical, or another therapy session.
Inside this guide, you won’t find hype or hustle.
It also won’t give you all the answers.
But it will help you ask better questions — the kind that lead to clarity, alignment, and courage.
Take your time with it. Reflect on the prompts. Be honest.
Don’t worry about getting it “right”. This is space to get reacquainted with yourself.
You don’t have to overhaul everything tomorrow...
But what if, today, you gave yourself permission to start?
Step 1: Uncover Your Current Alignment
True fulfillment comes when we define success on our own terms and create a life that reflects our deepest values and purpose. But for many of us, success has been defined by others: society, our industry, our job title, or even well-meaning loved ones.
If you feel like something’s off, it’s because the life you’ve created might not fully align with who you truly are or what you’re supposed to be doing.
Prompt: In your own words, describe what ‘success’ currently looks like for you. What are you proud of? What’s working?
→
Prompt: What parts of your current role, business, or identity feel like they’re no longer working — even if they look great on the outside?
→
Prompt: Where do you feel tension, burnout, or the sense that something needs to shift?
→
Step 2: Identify the Patterns
Your core motivations are the persistent driving forces that are the essence of what motivates you. From this flows your actions and choices over time.
So being clear on your core motivators helps you align your actions with who authentically are and find greater satisfaction and meaning in your life.
By uncovering your core motivations, you gain clarity not only on what’s keeping you stuck, but also on what really matters.
That way, you can make decisions that honor the authentic you.
Prompt: When did you first start feeling the “something just ain’t right” tension? Was there a moment, event, or change that made you pause?
→
Prompt: What have you tried so far to resolve or ignore this tension? How has that worked for you?
→
Prompt: What would you love to feel instead, even if you’re not sure how to get there?
→
Step 3: Name What You Need
You need a clear, simple plan – one that names exactly what you need and aligns your purest motivations with specific actions.
This gets you closer to truly living authentically and fulfilled. Without a plan, it’s easy to slip back into old habits and stay stuck in the same cycle. Your plan will serve as a clear roadmap that helps you move forward confidently and consistently.
Prompt: What kind of support, clarity, or courage do you feel you need most right now?
→
Prompt: What would it mean to finally feel aligned, clear, and at peace?
→
Prompt: If you could rewrite this next chapter in partnership with someone who truly saw you — what would that chapter be about?
→
Your Next Step…
You’ve just taken a huge step by naming things most people avoid. And, if you’ve been craving space to think out loud with someone who gets it, I want to chat with you...
On our call, we’ll co-create a Realignment Roadmap based on everything you’ve uncovered here. We’ll explore what’s been feeling misaligned, name what’s trying to emerge, and map out your first aligned next step - one that’s specific to you.
No pressure. No performance. Just a powerful conversation.
