Thank you, this is so helpful! I have had a nagging resentment (less jealousy, more disapproval) of someone who does work in a similar space (not a creator), who just sucks. LOL. I resent the fact that they have success because I don't feel that they deserve it. I can't say more than that...but it's more a matter of my resenting the fact that "branding" and endorsements by big companies leads to more material success and recognition than quality. Of course, this is a trend across industries, but seeing it all the time from this one company bothers me.
Totally understand that. I know for awhile I would tire of similar things, but I found that if I tried to reframe it as a healing opportunity for myself to move forward, that would often help. As an example, I would try and put quality videos out on TikTok that barely get 200 views, while meanwhile the silliest of things get thousands, or scenic photographs on Instagram, and barely get a peep except from clearly bot accounts.
Yes. It is hard to acknowledge that quality does not get the same results as…well, garbage. I’m not sure that’s something to heal from as much as accept. That is, the deterioration of quality.
I’m happy to report that the tendency to experience jealousy diminishes with age, but I love the way you’ve created a mindset shift to make it more productive when it rears its ugly head.
Indeed. In scrolling through Notes sometimes, I can see others frustrations with not gaining much traction, so just wanted to do more of a deep dive to hopefully help others gain a new perspective.
I just published a rough around the edges post. It was edited and polished but… the ending was flat.
Let’s put that one in the win column!
That is a definite win Nikki!

I'm so glad to hear it was helpful Elizabeth!
