A great post. Now I know why I feel drained of creativity when drained of energy - both mentally and physically.

Great article, Matt! The trick is in slowing down. My secret tip is to get to an open space, stretch out by body and start from a low sounding voice upping to tempo to a loud shout. About 30 seconds or so. The relief I get from this simple practice is immense.

The other one is to walk along around a lake where I can hear the sound of flowing water. The sound of water simply renews my soul.

Great article and a solid procedure to reclaim your energy! Restacked.

Thank you for the kind words Vijaya and for restocking! The performing artist in me loves the tip about using your voice!

I enjoyed this post! I liked the idea of creativity triggers -- and the example of a cup of coffee was helpful! Do you have creativity triggers that you use when it gets too late in the day for caffiene?

Thank you so much for reading!

I know for me, I'm the same way, I can't have coffee too late in the day, otherwise getting to sleep at night certainly proves more difficult.

This year I've gotten into the habit of some chamomile tea in the afternoon, along with different types of sound bath, and instrumental type music. Those have been game changers for focus and creativity especially if you have a decent pair of headphones, etc.

Matt, thanks for the article!

I've suffered Chronic Fatigue whilst running my Branding business, I suffered major burnout and had to pause my business for a while.

But gradually I came back but knew I had to change my approach to work.

I discovered Focus Modes by @davemeier (Substack publication called Focus Fuel) I plan my day with 4 modes and like you recommended I make a coffee, make my AG1 and get refiil my water bottle, grab my noise cancelling headphones and tune into Brain FM ready to sit at my desk for 60 minutes of "sports mode" focus.

Hi Emma!

Thank you for your comments! I'm glad that this was helpful, and helps me to shape future content as well. I'm glad that you've been able to come back as well!

I'll have to look into Focus Fuel. I know one of my favorite "go to's" is the Sound Bath and Pure Focus playlists on Apple Music. Highly recommend those as well.

My energy and my creativity is highest in the morning and I'm talking early morning - before the roosters crow.

Creativity and ideas come flooding to me in the weirdest places. 🚿🚜

First my shower. Every single time I get in the shower, I get flooded with all these ideas and I have to keep my phone or my notepad near me so I can record or do it the second I get out of the shower. Then I have to go ahead and write, edit and publish them. The only thing that holds me back from that is if I have an appointment or something.

The second place is when I'm out on the big mower mowing the 10 acres. I usually have my AirPods in enjoying the music and the sunshine and boom! They start flooding again and I have to stop and start voice recording the thoughts and ideas on my phone. Unfortunately, at that time, I can't stop everything and come in and write, but I try to be very specific when voice recording.

That's how it works for me 😉

I love this Kathleen, thank you for sharing! I know for me a lot of it can come when going around on a walk in our neighborhood. I've also appreciated the features of the Snipd app for this, when listening to podcasts which allows you to grab highlights from podcasts as well.
